We have spent the last 50 years serving our community.
ACSA is a leading and learning organization that is constantly adapting to the changing needs of our community. We are committed to advancing our knowledge and expertise, and to sharing our learnings with other organizations working in the social services sector.
In response to the fast-changing community of Agincourt in the 1970’s, eight local faith groups came together to build on the work that Holy Spirit Catholic Church had been doing to assist local residents who were in need. Reverend Bruce Scott from Knox United Church devoted much of his time in launching the Agincourt Community Services Association (ACSA).
ACSA opened its doors for the first time in a little white church on the corner of Birchmount and Sheppard. The fledgling agency started by offering supports such as information, referrals, and emergency food and clothing. We also were providing a space called “The Family Life Centre” where professionals could provide supportive counseling to people in the Agincourt area. Since then, we have grown exponentially
For half a century, ACSA has relied on an unwavering team of volunteers to support a diverse range of programs. While the fundamental values remain unchanged, ACSA has adapted its strategies to empower individuals to become self-reliant through "hand up" programs instead of solely providing temporary relief via "hand out" programs. We have remained nimble and have been continuously evolving our programs to address the ever-changing needs of the community.
Currently, ACSA tackles a wide range of challenges including the effects of systemic poverty: hunger, precarious housing, homelessness, unemployment, inaccessibility, and social isolation. Despite the expansion of services, ACSA remains committed to bridging the gap between those who require assistance and those who can offer it.

ACSA is a community champion that believes everyone should have a life full of dignity, belonging, and health. We have been serving our community for almost 50 years as a non-profit organization focused on hyper-local supports. We offer a wide range of services and programs to support families, children, youth, seniors, those precariously housed or unhoused, and newcomers. ACSA is committed to making a positive impact across Scarborough and the York Region, including in areas identified by the City of Toronto as emerging neighbourhoods and neighbourhood improvement areas.
