"After retiring over 5 years ago and caring for my mother until she passed away, I decided to volunteer at ACSA. I have worked in the Kitchen and Drop-in area preparing and servicing breakfast, lunch, and snacks to walk-in clients for over a year now. It has brought more meaning to my life, a better weekly routine, and satisfaction in helping those in need. I also enjoy the social aspect in interacting with the clients, and working alongside others at ACSA who have similar intentions. Interaction with the clients also gives me better insight and understanding of some of the challenges that these people face in their lives. Over the past few months I took on the added duties to do income tax preparation for low income earners. Although sometime challenging, it gave me great pleasure in knowing that I can perform these duties satisfactorily after being retired from office work for so many years. It is also satisfying to know that I am helping families and individuals get their income tax done, and receive tax credits when perhaps they couldn't do this on their own."

“Completing my student placement with ACSA was an awesome experience for me as not only did I learn and grow as a Social Service Worker student, but also it's amazing staff made the environment very comfortable for me by being supportive throughout the entire time I was there.
