Agincourt Community Services Association (ACSA) is a multiservice not for profit agency located in Scarborough. We are looking for a mature, energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill the Social Media & Website Content Writer/Researcher who will be responsible for updating content on the Helping Newcomers Work (HNW) website to ensure that information stays current; generating new content for the website and social media feeds; and using social media to promote website visits.  Helping Newcomers Work provides valuable information and contacts to job seekers who are newcomers and those who are helping them.  Its website includes a unique database of training and employment programs, as well as posts on different types of work that may appeal to newcomers.   This position will be working at our Newcomers’ Centre location at the Dorset Park Community Hub. 


Job Description


Social media

Posting to HNW Facebook and Twitter pages of media stories of interest, training, employment programs in the GTA, upcoming events of interest such as information sessions, hiring events, webinars, and workshops



  • Write website content following the format of current HNW website
  • Using Wordpress, select upcoming training or employment programs to appear on the Home page  
  • Update the website post of all media stories that have been posted on the Facebook page
  • Ensure that all information on the website are up-to-date and links are working
  • Write posts on a variety of sector topics to be assigned
  • Research information online and cross-reference to programs in the HNW database;
  • Maintain program database



  • Prepare summary of current issue
  • Research topics for “need to know” or “work to consider” website posts that are new or have been updated
  • Research information and update URL links on training and employment programs
  • Research and update URL links to all media stories that have been posted on the Facebook page
  • Coordinate with newsletter publisher for content of the newsletter



  • Strong interest in working on a project with social impact and, in particular, serving newcomers
  • Social media expertise; demonstrated skill in using Facebook and Twitter, including attention-drawing comments, use of images, and use of hashtags
  • Experience with LinkedIn, WhatsApp, YouTube, and Instagram may be of value
  • Excellent online research skills
  • Excellent writing capability for website posts, including clear and attractive style and proper grammar
  • Knowledge of WordPress would be very helpful
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Arabic is an asset
  • Knowledge on how to update a website is an asset
