Agincourt Community Services Association (ACSA) is a multiservice not for profit agency located in Scarborough. We are looking for a mature, energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill the Settlement Assistant position to assist settlement counselors in providing information and referral services for newcomers.   This position will be working at our Newcomers’ Centre location at Dorset Park Community Hub. 


Job Description

  • Responsible for assisting settlement staff to provide information to clients
  • Assist staff in filling out forms
  • Assist in the development of  awareness of community and social services to support and make referrals for newcomers
  • Work cooperatively with other staff to ensure a consistent and high level of client service
  • Follow high quality standard procedures for receiving and directing calls and handling walk-in clients
  • Support core services (Settlement and Integration, Orientation Sessions, Community Events, Workshops)
  • Provide logistical support
  • Data-entry; create and maintain databases and spreadsheets
  • Provide administrative support 
  • Perform other duties as required



  • Youth between 18-30 years old
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, Convention refugee or Protected person
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Some experience in office/clerical work
  • Some experience in teaching (i.e. tutorial, etc.)
  • Excellent computer skills (i.e. using online applications)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledgeable of newcomer issues and understand current trends about them
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • A positive attitude with creative and dynamic leadership skills
  • Ability to speak another language is an asset
  • Youth from the LGBTQ+ community is highly encouraged to apply
  • Must be a returning student by September 2020
