ACSA is a nonprofit, multi service agency at the heart of Agincourt addressing needs and empowering children, youth, newcomers, homeless, and otherwise underserved communities. Our core programs include housing and outreach programs, food security programs, newcomer services, youth outreach and therapy programs, child and family programs, early years’ programs, computer access programs, and community engagement.
Summary of Job Functions
ACSA is currently seeking Middle Years Restorative Practices Program facilitator for the Summer Camp Program. The candidate will contribute to the daily operations of ACSA’s Summer Camp within the policies and procedures of the agency. The candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of restorative justice principles and practices. The successful candidate will develop relationships with families and their children while focusing on assisting the Site Supervisor, Child and Family in restorative justice curriculum development, implementation and working within the community, in person, virtual or hybrid. The candidate must have a sound knowledge of Toronto’s (specifically Scarborough) community services and agencies, essential for information and referral process to community families.
Duties include:
- Facilitate ACSA’s Restorative Practices program at our main location as well as various satellite locations; virtual programs, and other services as needed
- Responsible for implementing program planning materials and content, and ensure all programs are relevant to guidelines
- Assist manager and site supervisor in developing and revising curriculum, and activities as needed, in consultation with the program evaluator
- Prepare and present relevant materials and supplies for activities including visual storytelling, interviewing students and families
- Work within the program parameters to meet project expectations
- Work with the team, facilitator, students and families in conflict management, resolution strategies
- Be responsible for collecting, collating and entering relevant data, complete evaluations and reports as required
- Work with manager, site supervisor, and team to ensure the smooth operation of programs
- Work with manager and site supervisor to assist in administration and first point of contact for other Restorative Justice Facilitators
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Social Services, Child and Youth Work or equivalent qualification
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in working with children 6-12 years of age
- Experience working with large groups of children and caregivers (3 years minimum)
- Strong knowledge of family dynamics
- Experience working with a diverse community; strong cross-cultural communication skills
- Sound knowledge of restorative justice principles and practices
- Possess core skills such as self-awareness, resilience, ability to work with emotions, open-mindedness, empathy, compassion, sound judgment, interpersonal skills etc.
- Strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills, good assessment skills, ability to modify processes to suite situation and de-briefing skills
- Excellent research and facilitation skills, peer mentoring, coaching and support experience
- Strong organization and time management skills, and ability to work on multiple projects at one time
- Experience in conflict resolution and conflict management ; training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy an asset
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Flexible to work evenings and Saturdays
- A good understanding of trending data best practice implementation
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite, various cloud based software such as Google docs, Zoom, WebEx, with ability to quickly learn and grasp new software.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle required
- A police criminal reference/vulnerable sector check clearance
- Standard First Aid with CPR, and up-to-date immunizations are required and 2 step TB Test up to date
