What is Canada Summer Jobs?

Canada Summer Jobs is an initiative of the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy, which aims to provide flexible and holistic services to help all young Canadians develop the skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition into the labour market. To be eligible, youth must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.


Agincourt Community Services Association (ACSA) is a multiservice not for profit agency located in Scarborough. We are looking for motivated, energetic and knowledgeable individuals to fill the Food Bank Support Worker positions to assist the food bank coordinator with the operation and administration of the food bank.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients, volunteers, and donors to the space with a friendly attitude
  • Assisting with food bank operations such as providing community members experiencing food insecurity with food supplements and other essential items
  • Training, mentoring and supervising volunteers and communicating procedures on an ongoing basis
  • Contribute to the team effort of unloading and organizing food deliveries
  • Supporting clients through active listening, information and referral
  • Assisting with the management of food bank data using the databases Link 2 Feed and OCMS
  • Answering calls from community members experiencing food insecurity and booking appointments
  • Monitor food inventory and create packing lists for food hampers
  • Supervise and assist with the packaging of food items such as bread, rice, and produce
  • Record food donations and liaise with donors
  • Supporting client check-in during opening times
  • Receiving donations and organizing food inventory
  • Completing and processing food bank intakes
  • Contribute to the growth and improvement of the food bank and operations
  • Maintain cleanliness of food bank within COVID-19 health and safety protocols such as sanitizing surfaces, floors, equipment, cold‐storage units and bins
  • Other duties as necessary



  • Youth between 15‐30 years old
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Motivated, with excellent problem‐solving skills
  • Comfortable being in a leadership role
  • Related experience in a community setting and community programs an asset
  • Able to lift 15‐30 lbs and stand for long periods of time
  • Knowledge of a second‐language spoken in the community preferred
