Community Food Centre Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs ‐ 2022)

Pay rate: $15.00/hour

Agincourt Community Services Association (ACSA) is a multiservice not for profit agency located in Scarborough. We are looking for a mature, energetic and knowledgeable individual(s) to fill the Community Food Centre Assistant position to assist the Community Food Centre Operations Lead with the operation and administration of the food bank.

Job Description

  • Welcome clients, volunteers, and donors to the space with a friendly attitude
  • Assisting with food bank operations such as providing community members experiencing food insecurity with a food supplement
  • Contribute to the team effort of unloading and organizing food deliveries
  • Supporting clients through active listening, information and referral
  • Assisting with the management of food bank data using the databases Link 2 Feed and OCMS
  • Answering calls from community members experiencing food insecurity and booking appointments
  • Monitor food inventory and help with shelving and putting away of food boxes
  • Supervise and assist with the packaging of food items such as bread, rice, and produce
  • Record food donations and liaise with donors
  • Supporting client check-in during opening times
  • Supporting client check-out during opening times
  • Receiving deliveries and organizing food inventory
  • Mentoring volunteers and communicating operating procedures on an ongoing basis
  • Completing and processing food bank intakes
  • Maintain cleanliness of food bank such as surfaces, floors, equipment, cold-storage units and bins



  • Youth between 15-30 years old
  • Motivated, with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Able to lift 15-30 lbs
  • Knowledge of a second-language spoken in the community preferred
