Position Type: Contract 12 weeks, 30.5 hours a week

Agincourt Community Services Association (ACSA) is a multiservice not for profit agency located in Scarborough. We are looking for a mature, energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill the Language Training Assistant position to assist our Online Language staff/teacher in providing language instruction strategies to improve the newcomers’ English language skills.   This position will be working at our Newcomers’ Centre location at the Dorset Park Community Hub. 


Job Description

  • Assist Language Teacher in preparing materials, lesson plans and activities for each level or group 
  • Assist in interactive sessions to learn English using online platform
  • Assist in conducting online conversation activities with learners
  • Assist in observing, evaluating, and documenting learners’ work to determine progress
  • Assist Language Teacher in creating and updating  required reports
  • Network with other staff, attend and participate in agency functions
  • Enter data/client information in ACSA’s database
  • Perform other duties as required



  • Youth between 18-30 years old
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, Convention refugee or Protected person
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Some experience in office/clerical work
  • Some experience in teaching (i.e. tutorial, etc.)
  • Excellent computer skills (i.e. using online applications)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledgeable of newcomer issues and understand current trends about them
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • A positive attitude with creative and dynamic leadership skills
  • Ability to speak another language is an asset
  • Current police reference check is mandatory
