Job Title: Baymills Facilitator


1 position (28 hours per week)

Contract Start date: June 24th, 2019

Reports to: Supervisor, Baymills Hub



ACSA is a nonprofit, multi service agency addressing needs and empowering children, youth, newcomers, homeless, and otherwise underserved communities.  Our core programs include housing and outreach programs, food security programs, newcomer services, youth outreach and therapy programs, child and family programs, early years’ programs, computer access programs, and community engagement.


Summary of Job Functions

ACSA is looking for a dynamic individual to support in the running of the Baymills Hub space. The role will be a combination of providing administrative/reception support, as well as animating the space and providing outreach/engagement supports.


Duties include:

  • To operate the reception desk in the Baymills Hub which involves the sign in of all visitors and participants in drop-in, special events and regular programming as well as the upkeep and organization of any registration packages;
  • Facilitate room bookings and follow any procedures that are required with those requests, maintain space calendar and conduct orientation of groups to the space;
  • Order supplies and maintain order lists as required;
  • Liaise with partner and local agencies and groups as needed;
  • Maintain organization of program resources, supplies, community rooms and foyer;
  • Support the supervisor in training any volunteers and placements students that are brought on to support the project;
  • To work alongside supervisor, to ensure necessary procedures are followed with regards to the space, including but not limited to, space booking and issuing of fobs, safety protocols, etc.;
  • Conduct resident engagement within the Baymills space including supporting residents to start their own projects, and engaging them in the running of the space;
  • Implement community based outreach and engagement;
  • Animate the space through program provision and other initiatives (i.e. events);
  • Support the supervisor to implement any evaluation of the space;
  • Represent ACSA on appropriate networks, workgroups and other relevant meetings
  • Provide written and oral reports to the Supervisor of the program
  • Participate as a team member on the delivery of other activities in the Agency
  • Participate in ACSA and community events as needed
  • Protect own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately; follow all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Performs the responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable Acts and consistent with the policies of ACSA



  • Degree in Social Work or related field (i.e. Human Services, Health or Education)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in community based not-for-profit agencies
  • Excellent and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, project planning and management abilities
  • Ability to balance and understand strategic and operational thinking
  • Experience working with diverse communities and sensitivity to cultural issues; commitment to the value of diversity and inclusiveness
  • Very strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Excellent demonstrated facilitation skills
  • Ability to motivate others and build leadership development strategies
  • Strong communication skills: excellent writer, active listener and comfortable public speaker
  • Knowledge of program planning, implementation and evaluation strategies
  • Strong conflict mediation skills
  • Experience working with numerous stakeholders and developing long term partnerships
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with Baymills community is an asset
  • Having a second language is an asset.
