Job Title: Bay Mills Engagement Facilitator

1 position (28 hours per week)

Contract Start date: End of November 2020; Contract end date: March 31st, 2021

Reports to: Program Director




ACSA is a nonprofit, multi service agency addressing needs and empowering children, youth, newcomers, homeless, and otherwise underserved communities.  Our core programs include housing and outreach programs, food security programs, newcomer services, youth outreach and therapy programs, child and family programs, early years’ programs, computer access programs, and community engagement.


Summary of Job Functions

ACSA is looking for a dynamic individual to support in the animation of the Bay Mills hub space and in the engagement of the community, with a particular focus on youth and seniors. The role will be a combination of providing in person and virtual outreach/engagement and programming, as well as administrative support. The position will be expected to work on site.


Duties include:

  • Conduct resident engagement within the Bay Mills space including supporting residents to start their own projects, and engaging them in the running of the space;
  • Implement community based outreach and engagement;
  • Plan, implement and evaluate in-person and virtual engagement and programming opportunities for youth and/or seniors;
  • Develop and implement mechanisms to ensure youth and/or seniors are connected to and supported (i.e. phone calls, door to door, etc.);
  • Support in the training of volunteers and placements students that are brought on to support the project;
  • Support in ensuring the smooth daily operations of the space, including reception coverage, answering of phones, site upkeep, providing information and referral, etc.;
  • Work with team in implementing other initiatives out of the space including, but not limited to, food access programs;
  • Work with team to ensure all necessary health and safety protocols are followed with regards to COVID-19;
  • Order supplies and maintain order lists as required;
  • Liaise with partner and local agencies and groups as needed;
  • Maintain organization of program resources, supplies, community rooms and foyer;
  • To work alongside team, to ensure necessary procedures are followed with regards to the space, including but not limited to, space booking and issuing of fobs, safety protocols, etc.;
  • Provide written and oral reports to the Supervisor of the program
  • Participate as a team member on the delivery of other activities in the Agency
  • Participate in ACSA and community events as needed
  • Protect own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately; follow all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Performs the responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable Acts and consistent with the policies of ACSA



  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in community based not-for-profit agencies
  • Experience working with and facilitating engagement and community based programming for youth and/or seniors
  • Diploma/Degree in related field and or relevant community related experience i.e. (Social/Community worker, Human Services, Health or Education) is an asset
  • Excellent and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, project planning and management abilities
  • Experience working with diverse communities and sensitivity to cultural issues;       commitment to the value of diversity and inclusiveness
  • Very strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Excellent demonstrated facilitation skills
  • Strong communication skills: excellent writer, active listener and comfortable public speaker
  • Strong conflict mediation skills
  • Experience working with numerous stakeholders and developing long term partnerships
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with Bay Mills community is an asset
  • Having a second language is an asset.
