After School Program Facilitator

Contract Part-Time Position (up to 21 hours per week, includes some mornings and 3-6pm)

 Contract End date: June 25thth, 2020

Reports to: Manager of Child and Family Services

ACSA is a nonprofit, multi service agency at the heart of Agincourt addressing needs and empowering children, youth, newcomers, homeless, and otherwise underserved communities.  Our core programs include housing and outreach programs, food security programs, newcomer services, youth outreach and therapy programs, child and family programs, early years’ programs, computer access programs, and community engagement.


Summary of Job Functions


ACSA’s Child and Family Centre is currently seeking a staff for our After School Program Facilitator. The After School program runs from 2:45pm-5:45pm, 5 days a week, at 12 separate locations throughout the Steeles L’amoreaux and Dorset Park neighbourhoods. Reporting to the Child and Family Services Manager, After School Program Facilitator will be working with children ages 6-12, parents and caregivers and focusing on physical activity, healthy eating, health and wellness, and cultural activities and homework support.  After School Program Facilitator will be responsible to support after school leaders, snack team and support program manager for planning and implementing creative and high-quality activities that support children’s developmental, emotional, cognitive and psycho-social needs.  The employee will occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more with or without assistance and work in multiple locations at any given time.



Duties include:

  • Responsible for implementing program planning materials and content, and ensuring all programs are relevant to children (6-12 years) and compliant with funder and ACSA’s policies and practices
  • Responsible for collecting, collating and entering monthly statistics to the database
  • Responsible for ensuring all forms are up-to-date and administrative tasks as necessary
  • Responsible for supervising staff and volunteers/students
  • Working closely with the after school snack team and supporting the process
  • Working together with the Manager to ensure the daily operations run smoothly
  • Assisting in day to day operations of after school program including absences
  • Assisting in Staff planning with agenda, presentations, and pre and post activity
  • Visiting  after school sites and completing program check list and following up
  • Supplying in an after school program to cover absences as necessary
  • Communicating with parents/caregivers
  • Assisting Manager with ACSA rewards program
  • Assisting Manager with new and innovative behaviour management, safety tools
  • Mandatory availability to attend weekly and or monthly meetings on weekdays
  • Perform other such duties as may be assigned.




  • Graduate of a post-secondary child/youth related field such as Early Childhood Educator, Sport and Leisure, Child and Youth, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology, Kinesiology
  • Staff and students/volunteers Supervision up to 2 years is an asset
  • Staff and students/volunteers Supervision is required
  • Mandatory Police reference check / vulnerable sector screening
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid training
  • Certified in High 5 Standards of Healthy Child Development
  • Experience with skill development, planning and leading sports activities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Supportive team player and team builder
  • Second language an asset (Mandarin, Tamil, Farsi, etc.)
  • Training in Behaviour Management
  • Training in Classroom Management
  • Certified in Food Handler Training is an asset
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is mandatory
