Job Title: Accounts Payable /Payroll Accountant
Full Time position (35 hours per week)

Background
ACSA is a nonprofit, multi service agency addressing needs and empowering children, youth, newcomers, homeless, and otherwise underserved communities. Our core programs include housing and outreach programs, food security programs, newcomer services, youth outreach and therapy programs, child and family programs, early years’ programs, computer access programs, and community engagement.
Summary of Job Functions
The successful candidate will perform a wide range of payroll and accounting duties including processing payroll on a bi-weekly basis, ensuring accurate records, and accounts payable processes.
Duties include:
Payroll Responsibilities:

Gather timesheets and verify approvals
-
Process bi-weekly payroll through Ceridian for ~150 full-time and part-time employees

Enter payroll data in QuickBooks Enterprise, distributing hours/costs to multiple cost centres
-
Keep employee information up to date
-
Update vacation, sick, and statutory holiday records including time accrued/used
-
Processing Records of Employment according to legislation
-
Respond to payroll related inquires by employees and management
-
Reconcile and pay monthly employee benefits
-
Other payroll responsibilities as required
Accounts Payable Responsibilities:

Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures

Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data

Ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted

Prepare payments
-
Ensure all authorizations are received and recorded
-
Maintain filing of paid invoices
-
Understand expense accounts and cost centers
-
Understand compliance issues around accounts payable processes (HST, T4As, etc.)
General Accounting Responsibilities:

Reconciliation of various things such as TTC token inventory, etc.

Some basic reporting to internal and external sources
Qualifications:
-
Proven working experience in Payroll and Accounts Payable functions

Successful candidates will have completed a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification through the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) and a minimum of a diploma in Accounting

Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles

Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records

Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers

Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software

Proficiency in English and in MS Office

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
