Community gardens provide an opportunity for folks to get outside, meet community members, and connect with food histories. ACSA runs two community gardens, providing allotments for 50 families in the North Scarborough area. Here, gardeners can grow their own vegetables, take home their harvest, and are encouraged to give back to their community by donating a portion of their produce to a local food bank.
Meet our gardener, Hilda.
Hilda has been gardening with ACSA for over 20 years - meaning that she has so much experience and knowledge when it comes to growing food, seed saving, and sustainable methods for gardening.
Hilda is a core community member that encourages others to grow the things that they love and address food insecurity within Scarborough and the GTA.

For those interested in gardening who may not have the time to manage a plot, our Chester Le Garden is home to a large community-run plot, maintained by a group of dedicated volunteers.
