Food Security Programs

ACSA's Food Security Program works to ensure all people have access to nutritious food.

The Food Security Program at Agincourt Community Services Association is working towards a nutritious and healthier tomorrow for the community based on our five A's Approach to Food Security.

The five A's include, availability, accessibility, adequacy, acceptability and agency.

ACSA's Food Security Program works to ensure all people, at all times, have access to adequate amount of safe, nutritious, economic, culturally appropriate foods, produced in an environmentally sustainable dignified way. ACSA has many programs that service the needs of those populations in need of food security. ACSA utilizes and acknowledges the many community supports we have garnered in order for our Food Security Programs to be successful. Overall, our ability to service the community is inextricably linked to the amount of support we receive from the community- in this regard, we are continuously grateful for any and all assistance we receive.

Community Cooking: Learn how to prepare nutritious meals on a limited budget.

ACSA facilitates multiple cooking clubs servicing the needs of various populations. Community members learn how to prepare healthy and nutritious meals on a limited budget while gathering to promote socializing/networking and reduce isolation.

Practicing and promoting the five A's, our cooking programs have been instrumental in supporting newcomers; it is provided them with the confidence, knowledge and tools they need to eat healthy and well at a low cost. Classes have empowered mothers, food bank users and isolated seniors to enjoy a higher quality and healthier way of life.
