| Action for Neighborhood Change - Steeles/L'Amoreaux Community
Action for Neighborhood Change- Steeles/L'Amoreaux focuses on bringing residents together to make positive changes and build a stronger neighborhood. This project is guided by those who live and work in the community- ANC staff work to support and assist in making resident visions a reality.
The Steeles/L'Amoreaux community has identified areas of focus such as community programs/services and space, education, safety and image. So far, the Steeles/L'Amoreaux community has had many achievements. For example, there is a Neighborhood Association that meets monthly to implement neighborhood plans such as potlucks, community barbeques and cleanup days. Outreach to essential services, information and referrals to programs/services are also a vital aspect of this initiative. Across the neighborhood, safety and crime prevention workshops are facilitated and there is also a Resident Based Crisis Response Team made up of eleven residents available to respond if a crisis in the neighborhood occurs.
Overall, there are improved neighborhood conditions and a renewed sense of pride and ownership in the community. For more on ANC Steeles/L'Amoreaux please contact (416) 609-9393.
